Huffington challenged Roger Alies today on “This Week” yesterday morning, saying:

Appearing for the first time on ABC’s “This Week,” Ailes said that Beck’s often over-the-top rhetoric was politically legitimate, even if it ruffled a few feathers.Reminded by HuffPost’s Arianna Huffington that Beck has warned of “slaughter” and a “killing spree” for those not on board with the Obama administration’s agenda, Ailes insisted that the reference wasn’t to this president but rather to murderous dictators.
“Well, he was talking about Hitler and Stalin slaughtering people, so I think he was probably accurate,” he said. “I think he speaks English, I don’t know. But I don’t misinterpret any of his words. He did say one unfortunate thing that he apologized for. But that happens in live television.”
So, I was unaware of this so I thought I would bring it up. Glenn Beck is actually a college drop out. Now, I know we generally think that the people who make it onto TV are at least college graduates, even if it is just a Bachelors Degree. But, Glenn Beck dropped out of college after finish his first class.
Along with being a recovering alcoholic and drug addict, Beck has been diagnosed with Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder. He cites the help of Alcoholics Anonymous (AA) in his sobriety and attended his first AA meeting in November 1994, the month he states he stopped drinking alcohol and smoking cannabis.
In 1996, while working for a New Haven-area radio station, Beck was admitted to Yale University through a special program for non-traditional students. Beck took one theology class, “Early Christology,” and then dropped out.
So we are looking at a ex-druggie who could not even cut it in theology school. So, when we hear things like:
Spread the wealth — hello, Mao — that is what this is all about. And anybody not on board, look out because you too could be the next victim of the killing spree. Is it far fetched to think that [pay] Czar [Kenneth] Feinberg could go into Walmart and argue it that it is just too important to the economy if Walmart fails? I mean it’s the biggest store in the world. We feel you are being reckless in your pay structure Walmart. We have to bring the unions in to control your pay. What about Rupert Murdoch? if News Corp failed would it be harmful to the economic health of America?… Obama has repeated over and over again just how dangerous, old and unworkable our economy is.
and
I told you yesterday, buckle up your seatbelt, America. Find the exit — there’s one here, here, and here. Find the exit closest to you and prepare for a crash landing. Because this plane is coming down, because the pilot is intentionally steering it into the trees!
Most likely, it’ll happen sometime after Christmas. You’re gonna see this economy come up — we’re already seeing it, and now it’s gonna start coming back down again. And when you see the effects of what they’re doing to the economy, remember these words: We will survive. No — we’ll do better than survive, we will thrive. As long as these people are not in control. They are taking you to a place to be slaughtered!

I fail to understand what a college education has on the ability of someone to do their job.
Obviously Glenn Beck does his fantastically well. Otherwise he would not get the book deals, and been on both CNN and Fox. Nevermind his radio shows.
Well, as long as we understand he is entertainment and not legitimate news.
You fail to understand what a college education has on the ability of someone to do their job? Id prefer to be operated on by someone with a medical degree, thanks. Id also prefer someone on TV telling people what to think actually knew what the hell they were talking about.
Jason, you have posted a very interesting rant postulating the importance of a college education to be able to give a coherent and thoughtful theorem. Instead of arguing of his lack of education you should focus on what he is postulating. Is he telling you the truth? If not expose the lie. I am a product of a college education, be careful least you end up parroting the bias of your professors as they are theirs. The only quest worthy of your effort should be truth. I have found that as an engineer I often have to swallow my pride and listen to a working stiff who makes considerably less than me in order to get it right. In other words don’t be an elitist, most of our progress has been driven by the non degreed, including high school drop outs ie..E=MC2
@Don – you are misguided, Einstein created the E=MC2 equation and had received his PhD from the University of Zurich in 1905, after what we would call undergrad at Zurich Polytechnic.
Glenn Beck, Rush Limbaugh, and Sean Hannity are all college flunk outs. Sarah Palin earned her degree in journalism after attending 5 different colleges in 6 years. All of these conservative “opinion leaders” make their money as fire brands espousing views in a heated way that fire people up. They wouldn’t do it of there wasn’t so much money to be made. They are entertainers…not policy experts. They are certainly not to be blamed for the Tucson shootings. They are opportunists making a very good living by tapping into anger during bad economic times. I find none of this puzzling. What I find remarkable is why anyone would proudly call themselves a “dittohead”. This seems like an insult…to proudly call yourself a blind follower of a radio talk show host who purports to value individualism and free thought. Nothing exemplifies individualism and free thought less than this moniker. El Rushbo is laughing all the way to the bank.
Knowledge is a good thing. Ignorance is nothing to be proud of. I am a republican. Mitt Romney is a very smart well educated guy who can win the election. He understands economics. Sarah Palin is an opportunist who appears to believe that being “ordinary” is something to aspire to. As a father, I certainly hope that my child goes to college and becomes an “extraordinary” person…the very best most knowledgable person she can be in her chosen field. Knowledge is power. Anti-intellectualism does not help the conservative movement.
I don’t give a rip if Limbaugh, Beck and Hannity have college degrees, but it does bother me that people believe these three “promote the truth”. What they promote is themselves and their bank accounts. Folks who follow them don’t seem interested in facts, as all three of these jokers bend and exaggerate what is real, or, worse, they make things up. The “tax and spend liberal” line is so tired and old. Do you know the tax rate for top earners during the Eisenhower administration? 91%. For the top earners today, it’s 35%, but MOST pay around 15%. As a Republican, I’m pissed. We need to generate revenue AND cut spending. Tell me when “trickle down” worked, and don’t site one of your pundits. The middle class is who spends the greatest percent of their income. Henry Ford paid his workers well because he knew if they had money, they’d buy his product. Your boys have one primary motive…and that’s to line their own pockets. Hey engineer…read something beyond scales.
